Happy Halloween! Saturday I had the chance to celebrate with friends at Joey’s cafe, GP House. A small group of my foreigner friends and I put everything together to give Koreans (and actually a few people from other countries) a taste of how people celebrate back home. It was pretty relaxed. People dressed up, and for those for who didn’t we had a costume/make-up station. We also had a couple small games, pizza, and dance music. At the very end we walked around Gung-dong – the area next to Chungnam University – for a small parade. I only saw one other person dressed up, although to be fair I’m sure there were many more people dressed up in other areas of town like Dunsan and Eunheng-dong.
I wish I had more time to prepare a costume, but with work and preparing the party I lost track of time. I’m a theater person, so I love the dramatic aspect of Halloween. Plus dressing up is always fun 🙂 Next year I guess I’ll have to try harder!
If you happen to live in Daejeon there’s one decent party shop that I found. Go to Oryong station and go out exit 4. Walk straight for about 3 minutes and right before the bridge there’s a shop — I think it’s called Joy Party. Anyway they had costumes, balloons, and lots of decorations. I’ll definitely go back there for future parties.
