About

My name is Janelle, a 30 year old American lass from the Midwest.

I’m an Art Major with a focus in Painting & Drawing. My hope is to go to graduate school for Animation as I have a great love for animated movies/TV shows. I enjoy a number of hobbies such as: reading, singing, dance (ballet, tap, hip hop, etc.), baking/cooking, acting, art/crafts, and more.

So, how did an Art Major end up as an ESL teacher in South Korea? Well, I’ve always been interested in travel and initially my plan was to go to Japan since I studied Japanese in college. However, over the past couple years I’ve become more interested in Korean culture (mostly the ‘pop culture’ aspect) and my searching led me there.

I’m hoping this blog becomes not only a way to keep in touch with my family and friends back home, but also helps those who also are interested in South Korea. πŸ™‚

“What does the ‘Oh Happy Dae’ mean?”

I was trying to be oh-so-clever when thinking of a blog name. The song “Oh Happy Day” (which some of you might remember from the movie “Sister Act 2” haha) popped into my head. I lived in the city of Daejeon which is pronounced day-jon. Day – Dae… got it? ^^ Oh Happy Dae[jeon].
